
At a temple in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, frantic worshippers fled in fear of electrocution from a snapped electric wire, resulting in two fatalities and over thirty injuries. The sad event occurs one day after eight people were killed in a stampede at the Mansa Devi shrine in Uttarakhand.
During the holy month of Shravan, a sizable audience gathered Monday to offer prayers at the Avsaaneshwar temple in the Haidergarh region of Uttar Pradesh. For ‘jalabhishek’, or the ritualistic offering of water, devotees had assembled at the temple.

A live electric wire was snapped overhead by monkeys, causing devotees waiting for darshan under a tin shed to panic and flee. Power reportedly flowed through the shed when the shattered wires landed upon the tin sheets.
There was a stampede-like situation at the temple as a result of the incident, which caused panic. Revenue authorities, police, and first responders hurried to the scene and started relief efforts right away.
Reports state that Prashant, a 22-year-old resident of the village of Mubarakpura, was one of the deceased. The location of the 30-year-old devotee who passed away from injuries sustained while receiving treatment at the Trivediganj Community Health Centre (CHC) has not yet been determined by officials.
“On Monday of the’saavan’ month, devotees gathered at the Ausaneshwar Mahadev temple to offer prayers,” Barabanki DM Shashank Tripathi told reporters. An electric wire was broken by monkeys and fell onto the shed. Two persons were killed and over two dozen injured in the stampede that resulted from the ensuing panic. The injured were transported to the Trivediganj Community Health Centre and Haidergarh. Here, the state of law and order is typical,” ANI said.
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, expressed regret for the event and gave the authorities instructions to make sure the injured received the care they needed.
